Alicante

I used to live in Alicante. Up until 3 months ago. So here is how i remember it!

So first take : Alicante / Spain

When i think about Alicante I think about: sunshine, siesta, fiesta, horchata granizada, pineapple juice, tapas, seashell hunting, my favourite bikini, laying on the beach, watching the waves, shoe design school,  olive oil, Mercadona, second hand clothes market, sand sand sand, good friends, churros, rambla, palm trees

I loved: the smell of the see in the air and the sunrise on the beach (as cliche as it sounds :)

Soundtrack of the city? ( an album / song that everytime you listen to makes you remember the city for whatever reason: there are a few songs - K'Naan - Waving Flag (I was there when Spain won the World Cup in 2010 and this song reminds  me of the atmosphere on the streets) and a couple of spanish pop songs they always played on the radio - Zucchero - Baila Morena, Malu - Blanco y Negro, Miguel Bose - Morena Mia

Favorite spots: Cigarreras Cultural Center, Ocho y Medio bartapas bars in Calle de los Labradores, Mercadillo de Teulada, the squares on the photos, the beaches outside of the city, the international library in Los Arenales, and a small second hand shop in the Calle Vaillo

Best ice cream in town: Muu ice cream in Los Arenales. Its only open in summer though, but definetely the best i tasted while living there. With their yoghurt fruit de bosque ice cream they will win you over in no time. :)

Why never leave: sea, sunshine, palm trees, food, markets,

Reasons why pack and move: winter is slow and quiet and also most of the houses are not prepared for the colder weather during the winter so you can end up freezing in your appartement - happened in my case :) - also its a smaller city so at some point you might feel the urge to move on and discover the world

For which city (could be all around the world) would you trade it for? (not forever, lets say for 1 year maybe): I just traded it for a small city in Germany. Was not a very good deal considering I got plenty of rain and cloudy days in exchange of sunshine and the beach

So here I am looking back ..
